Harassment
is unwanted behavior that annoys, threatens, intimidates, or harms another
person, especially when it happens repeatedly or creates a hostile
environment.
It can
take different forms, such as:
- Verbal
harassment: insults, slurs, offensive
jokes, or threats
- Physical
harassment: unwanted touching, blocking
someone’s movement, or aggressive actions
- Psychological/emotional
harassment: bullying, humiliation,
spreading rumors, or intimidation
- Sexual
harassment: unwelcome sexual comments,
advances, or behavior
- Online
(cyber) harassment: abusive messages, stalking,
or public shaming through the internet or social media
A key
part of harassment is that the behavior is unwelcome and makes the person
feel unsafe, uncomfortable, or degraded.
